Tourism HR Canada a Presenting Partner at En[tour]preneur
Event encourages youth to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities in Canadian tourism
The Canadian En[tour]preneur Experience was a gathering of Canadian youth interested in starting businesses in the tourism sector. Hosted by the Honourable Bardish Chagger, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism, the two-day event featured a wide range of tourism industry partners and business owners who mentored participants as they developed business ideas in response to the challenge of increasing millennial travel to and within Canada.
Tourism HR Canada President Philip Mondor presented on tourism’s human resource challenges and future employment outlook, an important subject for the participants to consider in their discussions around opportunities and potential of the industry.
Along with Tourism HR Canada, partnering organizations included the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, Destination Canada, the Hotel Association of Canada, Ottawa Tourism, Business Development Bank of Canada, Y2 Entrepreneurship Labs, Futurpreneur, and Canada Business Networks.
Tourism mentors included Hostelling International Canada, Winnipeg Trolley Company, Twenty York Street, C’est Bon Cooking and Brew Donkey.
En[tour]preneur participants left the event armed with new knowledge and a spirit of collaboration that will serve them well as they continue their careers and become leaders in the Canadian tourism industry.
