CTHRC Congratulates the 2013 TIAC Canadian Tourism Award Winners!
The 2013 Canadian Tourism Awards were presented December 3, 2013 at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa as part of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s National Tourism Congress. The awards recognize success, leadership and innovation in Canada's tourism industry, and reward those people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer travellers superior tourism experiences in Canada. Congratulations to all the award winners!
In particular, the CTHRC would like to acknowledge two Canadian Tourism Award winners who are HR leaders in the tourism and hospitality industry, and users of emerit Training Solutions resources.
Delta Hotels in Halifax, NS was awarded the Via Rail Community Service Award. Delta’s two Halifax properties were recognized for establishing an extremely successful fundraising event to benefit Habitat for Humanity, Nova Scotia.
The National Cultural Heritage Award was presented to Newfoundland’s Fogo Island Inn. This unique property was recognized for its commitment to strengthening and promoting the island’s culture and identity, while also taking on a role of ecological stewardship.
Both Delta Hotels and Fogo Island Inn are strong proponents of effective HR practices and are users of emerit training resources. Their understanding that success in the tourism and hospitality industry is directly related to the effectiveness and happiness of their employees stands as an example for all businesses. By investing in their most important asset—their employees—they have each built a loyal, conscientious team that goes out of its way to advance the business and give back to their community.
Once again, congratulations from CTHRC and emerit to the 2013 Canadian Tourism Award winners!
