Kitchen Helpers Needed!

If you would like to share your experiences and knowledge of your occupation and network with other Kitchen Helpers from across the country, this project is for you.

*NOTE: If you are a Chef, Sous Chef, Line Cook or other Kitchen Personnel, you can help by providing us with names and contact information of Kitchen Helpers that work in your kitchens.  To fully understand the Kitchen Helper occupation, it is very important that we speak with individuals who do the job on a daily basis; your help in inviting these workers to participate is greatly appreciated!

The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) is currently completing research to review the National Occupational Standards for Kitchen Helpers. National Occupational Standards outline the skills, knowledge and abilities that a person needs to be a capable Kitchen Helper. Because you perform these skills on a regular basis, you are a Subject Matter Expert for this occupation. Your input and involvement in various project activities is very important to us and is essential to the success of this project!

There are many ways for you to become involved in this project. You are invited to participate in one or more of the following important and exciting activities:

  • Participate in a 45 minute telephone interview (or participate in an online survey if you don’t have the time for an interview) to tell us all about your job and work environment.

  • Provide your input about proposed revisions to the National Occupational Standards during an online meeting with Kitchen Helpers from across the country (November 2011).

  • Attend a final in-person meeting in a central location (e.g., Toronto or Ottawa) to validate the new version of the National Occupational Standards for Kitchen Helpers.

Please contact eukodituwakku@cthrc.ca if you are interested

to participate in one or more of the key activities of this exciting project.

Thank you!
