In January 2010, the unemployment rate in the tourism sector labour force was 7.5%. This was similar to the rate seen in January 2009 (7.7%), and represents a smaller fluctuation than that seen in the total economy.

In December 2009, the unemployment rate in the tourism sector was 7.3%. While this was 1.1% higher than the rate seen in December 2008, the year-over-year increase in the tourism unemployment rate was smaller than the increase seen in the total economy.
